About

Samara Mohammed is from the San Francisco Bay Area, and a graduate student in Human Centered Design and Engineering at the University of Washington. She has a background in genetics and has spent her career developing products and services that push the boundaries on science and healthcare. Samara is often traversing the worlds of science and design, and believes that the most transformative ideas live at the intersection of different disciplines. To round out her day, she likes to play the banjo, be in the company of llamas and alpacas, and indulge in tea.

Hi there!

I’m Samara, a designer and researcher interested in how we can design technology, built enviornments, and public policies to improve our quality of life and restore our planet’s health – both of which are inextricably linked.

My areas of expertise are in inclusive design methods, human-centered research, and UX writing.

To round out my day, I like to play the banjo and eat often and slowly.

DESIGN Process and Philosophy

My process is problem-driven – that means understanding and defining the problem(s) first. This is the foundation that makes products and services truly human-centered!

I’m a passionate advocate for inclusive design and climate-conscious solutions in all my work.
